James Richard Cronin was born December 12th, 1936, to Carl James and Anna Lucille Cronin. Jim was the oldest of 3 children. He passed away peacefully at home on September 22, 2025.

He participated in Eagle Scouts where he achieved Sea Scouts and found his passion. He graduated from Alameda High School in 1955. Following high school, he went to Tech School for Electronics in San Francisco for 6 months due to his higher aptitude for engineering. He was encouraged to go to Annapolis to college, instead he enlisted into the Army where he proudly served for 2.5 years including a tour of duty in Korea. After he left the service, he bought a service station in Oakland where he worked with his younger brother, Daniel Leroy Cronin. He became a proud father to Anne Cronin of Alameda and Thomas Joseph Cronin of Madera Ranchos.

An entrepreneur at heart, James found his niche working on boats founded Cronin Marine Repair. In 1970, James found the love of his life; they dated for 4 years before tying the knot in 1975 at the home of Bearl and Jessie Nelson in Los Banos. where he became a stepfather to Joan Harris, and Rodney Harris where they spent the last 51 years happily married.

James Richard Cronin was preceded in death by his parents, Carl James and Anna Lucille Cronin, brother, Daniel Cronin, stepchildren Joan Harris and Rodney Harris. He is survived by his wife Jerene Cronin, sister Kathleen Woulfe, daughter Anne Cronin, son Tom Cronin, grandchildren Erin Cronin, Zoe Cronin, James Sotka, Kristen Sotka, Daniel Harris and numerous great grandchildren.
