Sharon L. Machado

Sharon L. Machado, known to her friends and family as 'Shar, Shari, Sharita, Noni and Great-Grandma Shar,' passed away from pancreatic cancer on Friday, January 24, 2025.
Sharon was born in Oakland, CA and was raised in Alameda, CA. She attended Lincoln and Alameda High Schools, graduating from AHS Class of 1958. It is there that she met and married her high school sweetheart, Ken Machado. They were married for 63 years and had three children, Kathy (Tony), Mike, and Tony (Valerie). She was an adoring grandmother to Kristin (Ted), Angela (Jason), Rachele (Jonathan) and Collin, and a blessed great-grandmother to Maddie, Wesley, Avery and Maia. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph (Joe) Medaglia and her mother Alfretta (Lawrence) Medaglia. She has one loving brother, Thomas Medaglia (Patricia). She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family.
Sharon was a Registered Dental Assistant, RDA, for 24 years working for Drs. Scholz, Sammann & Johnson, Orthodontics in Alameda, where they became her second family. She enjoyed each and every day of her job joking and assisting in making it a fun place for all. Sharon found time for playing golf, where she was an avid and talented player on the Alameda Women's Golf Club. She had many trophies and awards to show for it.
Upon retirement, Sharon and Ken had a home built in Truckee, CA, and enjoyed many years there, until the snow became too treacherous. They then moved to Reno, NV, where they acquired many new friends and beloved neighbors. She loved her new community. She loved to get together with her girlfriends, take part in Slot tournaments, luncheons and found a new sporting passion in the game of pickleball - way before it became so popular. There she thrived and became a champion player Gardening, sewing, cooking, crafting and painting were also her passions. She was an extremely talented seamstress.
Sharon's radiating smile, vivacious personality, and caring demeanor will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Sharon. Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Greer Family Mortuary and Cremation Services, Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at St. Philip Neri, Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Sharon will be laid to rest with her husband Ken at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
