James "Jim" Dalessandro, age 87, of Orrville, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2023, at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster, surrounded by his family, following a period of declining health.
Jim was born on June 28, 1935, in Orrville, Ohio, to the late Luigi and Mildred (Chatterilli) Dalessandro and graduated from Orrville High School in 1953. He married Virginia Urschel on August 4, 1956, in St. Agnes Catholic Church in Orrville.
He worked as a maintenance man for Orrville Products for many years and then later went to work for Contours as an engineer for 17 years.
Jim was a member of Knights of Columbus and also sold Real Estate. He enjoyed wood working, fishing, gardening, and trips to the casino. Jim and Virginia loved traveling and RVing together; they have visited all 50 states during their travels over the years. But most of all Jim cherished spending time with his family.
In addition to Virginia, surviving are four daughters, Donna (Jim) Casto of Orrville, Cindy (Bob) Strait of Orrville, Pat Dalessandro of Massillon, and Becky Dalessandro of Utica; six grandchildren, Matthew (Erica) Casto, Melanie Casto, Shianne Strait, Gillian Strait, Kendra Strait, and Kaley Strait; four great grandchildren, Max, Peyton, Ivan, and Marshall Casto; and three brothers, John Dalessandro, Mike (Barb) Dalessandro, and Paul (Patti) Dalessandro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Phyllis Dalessandro.
Friends may call on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at the funeral home, with Pastor Mike Boggs officiating. Burial will take place at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
