Stephen Donald Snyder, age 75, of Johns Creek, Georgia, passed away on July 6, 2025. Born on April 4, 1950, in Orrville, Ohio, to the late Donald and Martha Rehm Snyder, he lived a life filled with laughter, love, and adventure. He was a beloved husband, a cherished brother, and a proud uncle to many, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered fondly by those who knew him.
Stephen's journey started in the heart of Ohio, where he graduated from Orrville High School in 1968 and furthered his education with a bachelor's degree from Akron University. His professional life saw him flourish as the Director of Sales in the Wolmanized chemically treated lumber industry for over 40 years, where he found great joy in connecting with customers and building lasting relationships. His dedication to his work was matched only by his passion for traveling, both for pleasure and work.
An ardent sports enthusiast, Stephen was known to cheer on his favorite teams with unwavering loyalty. He was a lifelong supporter of the Cleveland Guardians and Cleveland Browns, dreaming of championships for his teams for many years. Embracing his Atlanta roots, he also became a fan of the Atlanta Braves during his 40-plus years in the area, celebrating each home run and victory with infectious enthusiasm. A man of varied interests, Stephen also found joy in riding his Harley Davidson, soaking in the freedom of the open road, and enjoying a bourbon and cigar with friends.
Stephen's heart was truly captured by his wife, Karen Snyder. Their love story began at a softball game, and they shared 47 wonderful years together, filled with joy and companionship. He is also survived by his younger sibling, Dennis (Denny) Snyder, and a caring brother-in-law to Richard Velloney. His family, including seven nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, remembers him as a warm-hearted and jovial presence in their lives.
A funeral service to celebrate Stephen's remarkable life will be held at Johns Creek United Methodist Church on July 16, 2025. The day will begin with visitation at 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM. A reception will take place afterward at the church at 1:00 PM, where family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and memories. Services will also be held in Ohio on Friday, July 18, 2025, starting at 11:00 am at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery Association, Inc. in Akron, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Stephen's honor to the Atlanta Humane Society or Samaritan's Purse, reflecting his compassion for all living beings.
As we say goodbye to Stephen, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with the love of family, the joy of sports, and the thrill of adventure. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
