James Michael Dzieciolowski, age 86, passed away on February 26th, 2024. He was born on March 10th, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Stanley and Pauline Dzieciolowski. James was the beloved husband of the late Patricia, whom he married on October 19th, 1957, in Detroit. Together, they had five children: Steven (Suzanne), Mike (Ronda), BethAnn (Scott) Cote', Robert, and Joseph (Jennifer). He was a cherished grandfather of 11 and a proud great-grandfather of 8. James was also the loving brother of the late Donald and William, and brother-in-law of Marilyn Dzieciolowski, Patricia Dzieciolowski, Barbara Ward, Patsy Jensen, Barbara Egan, and Linda (Ceaser) Lorenzetti. He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
James dedicated many years of his life to working as a bricklayer in the Detroit area, where he was affectionately known as "Zorro". He was a proud member of the Bricklayer's Local 2 Union for nearly 65 years, leaving a lasting impact on his profession and community. A devout parishioner at St. Matthias Catholic Church since 1962, James also volunteered for many years at St. Vincent DePaul, embodying his commitment to service and faith. As a two time cancer survivor, he dedicated many years of support to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life as team "Jim's Laborer's of Love". In his leisure time, he enjoyed shooting at the North Macomb Sportsman Club, where he was a lifetime member, and spending moments of camaraderie at the Polish Century Club as a longtime member.
Visitation for James will be held on Sunday from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a Scripture Service at 4:30 PM, at the Wm Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, located at 8459 Hall Road (3 Blks E. of Van Dyke) in Utica. On Monday, visitation will continue from 9:30 AM at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 12311 19 Mile Road, Sterling Heights, until the time of Mass at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Society of St. Vincent DePaul.
