James Kip Finch II

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James K. Finch II, age 87, who peacefully left us on March 21, 2025. A beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and close friend to many, Jim's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Born on May 5, 1937, in New York, Jim was a man of integrity, kindness, and generosity. He was known for his unwavering devotion to his family and friends, always offering a listening ear, a helping hand, or words of encouragement. He served his country in the U.S. Army and his hometown of Morris, CT, for 25 years on the Board of Finance, many of those years as chairman. Jim earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Trinity College and later pursued a master's degree at RPI in New York.
Jim's love for life and those around him was evident in everything he did. He was a caring father, a cherished grandfather, and a great-grandfather lovingly known as grand "Pete." Later in life, he became a self-taught DIY enthusiast, often bruising his thumb and bumping his head more times than he could count.
James is survived by his wife, Joyce; his son, Kip, and his wife, Jennifer; his daughter, Debbie, and her husband, George; and his cherished grandchildren: Samantha, her husband, Robert, and their children, Wesley and Cooper; Jacob; Allison; and Jenavieve; Matthew, his wife, Ashley, and their son, Oliver; and Jonathan. His siblings, Maggie, Peter, Polly, and Ruth also survive him. He was preceded in death by his youngest brother, Earle, his father, E.C. Kip, and his mother, Laird.
Jim will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on through the countless lives he touched. May he rest in peace. A celebration of life to honor Jim will be held in Connecticut this summer, exact details to come.
