Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 15, 2024 at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Deacon Jim Johnston will officiate the service. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Military rites will be performed by American Legion Post #9 of Wisconsin Rapids following the service.
Jim was born on December 29, 1942 in Plainfield, WI, to Lloyd and Ruth (Rozell) Getzloff. He married Lurline Bird on July 2, 1961 in Lakewood, CA. Jim served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. from 1960 -1964. Professionally, Jim was a beater engineer for Domtar Paper Company in Port Edwards, WI. Jim was an avid sports fan. He loved playing and coaching softball, football, and basketball. In his spare time, Jim loved woodworking and ceramics, as well as spending time with his two dogs.
Jim is survived by his wife, Lurline; daughters, Deanna (Terry) Schadeberg, Shari Foth, Tammy (Oscar) Lowell, Connie Jo (Brian) Schmutzer, and Belinda Hamilton; adopted daughter, Leilanie Getzloff; brothers, Roger Getzloff, and Victor (Donna) Getzloff; sisters, Mary Sawyer, Dorothy Sparby, and Nancy Doerrler; grandchildren Thomas (Whitney), James (Kristine), Jonathan (Gretchen), Michael (Sara), Scott (Sarah), Steve (Lauren), Dustin (Bre), Amanda (Casey), Jason, Daniel, Stephanie, Katy (Kenny), Brittney, Dakota, Samantha, Jack, Marshall, and Grant; great-grandchildren, Rowan, Miles, Henry, Eloise, Otto, Layla, Cheyenne, Kaylee, Brandon, Allie, Chloe, Hannah, Calin, Jayden, Nevaeh, Sophia, Allen Jr., Patricia, Matthew, Avery, and Rowyk; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; Son-in-law, Bill Hamilton; brothers, Robert (Jane) Peterson, Clarence (Elaine) Getzloff, Albert Getzloff, and Ralph Getzloff; and sisters Irene (Ken) Huff, and Lorraine (Richard) Goodwin.
