James Inferrera, Jr. Obituary
James (Crow) J. Inferrera, Jr. 76, of Portland, passed away suddenly at his home on
July 15, 2024. He was the beloved husband of 20 years to Roberta Adams Inferrera.
James was a lifelong resident of Portland although his retirement years were divided
between Portland and the home he loved so much in the Florida Keys.
Born on February 19, 1948, to the late James and Lena (Russo) Inferrera, James
graduated from Portland High School and went on to study business. Early on James
was drawn to the martial arts, training in the U.S. and then Japan earning multiple black
belts. He taught martial arts and self-defense techniques to multiple law enforcement
agencies across the country.
James was a member of the Carpenters Union as a millwright, spending much of his
career helping to maintain atomic power plants throughout the northeast. James, like
his father, was a master mechanic and there wasn't anything he couldn't repair. He was
proud of his Italian heritage and loved to cook the dishes his mother had taught him.
His crab sauce was a specialty shared with many. James always had a garden and
shared the bounty with all his friends driving by the house. He was a member of the
Moose Club and Boys Club Marker 94. James loved to vacation, spend time at the
beach and visit with all his canine friends. He also loved a good Happy Hour and knew
where to find the best. He loved talking to people and it seemed he never left a happy
hour without making a new friend.
James is survived by his wife and best friend Roberta, his brothers-in-law Carter (Marie
Heck) Adams and Jeffrey (Lori) Adams and sister-in-law Nancy Volpe as well as many
nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition, he is survived by lifelong friends Richard and
Karen Faraci, and "favorite son" Timmy Donahue and his wife Barb and son Tim Jr.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Farrells Restaurant
from 4:00pm – 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Portland Food Bank or the Connecticut Humane Society.

Everyone on Loggerhead and Hawksbill loved Jimmy. He was a good friend and the "Life" of every neighborhood party. He was always so proud of the deals and bargains Bert would find online! Jimmy was quite creative. He devised an "elevator" to his house so that Bert´s mom could visit the Keys. So many stories that would bring a smile. Peace, my friend and say "hi" to Jim, Danny and my big boy cat, Doo-Doo.
