James C. Jensen, a beloved resident of Brighton, MI, peacefully passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at the age of 79.
Jim was a passionate golfer and a spirited competitor in games such as poker, bridge, euchre, and trivia. His unwavering support for the University of Michigan was matched only by his legendary sense of humor, which brought joy to all who knew him.
A proud veteran, Jim served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he earned multiple honors, including the prestigious Bronze Star Medal.
As a devoted husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and friend, Jim made a lasting impact on the lives of many. He dedicated many years to educating young minds as a respected middle school teacher at Central Middle School in Plymouth, MI. His absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and former students.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Baiba (nee. Gilbe) Jensen; his two sons, Aleksander (Jessica) Jensen and Nickolas (Kelsey) Jensen; his grandchildren, Lily, Jude, Poppy, and Jack; his sisters, Margreta Dart and Mariana (Richard Fron) Jensen; his nephew, Jensen (Kathleen) Rodney; and a host of close friends and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, Jim's family kindly requests that donations be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project or SAY Detroit. Please see the links located below for online donations.

We are deeply saddened by James' passing and I want to extend our deepest sympathy to Baiba and her family. Jim became a good friend over the last few years particularly here in Oak Forest of Englewood, Florida. I always enjoyed talking to Jim about a myriad of subjects. He was a thoughtful, wise and always had a great sense of humor. We will miss him greatly.

Jim and I sat together at the 50th reunion. He was as nice then as he was when we were in school together. I'm sure he will be missed by all how know him. I know I will.

I was sad to hear about Jim. I also went through from kindergarten to H.S. with Jim. He was always so nice to everyone. Bruce Becker sent me a photo of Jim with Bill West at the 60th reunion. I'm so glad I have that. I'm so sorry for his wife and his family.

Agreed! Jim was a great friend. Always enjoyed those Bird School days when he arrived with his Mom who would be our sub! He was especially angelic on those days - my pigtails never got pulled!
