James Donald McGouirk

James Donald "Don" McGouirk, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2024, in Palmetto, GA, at the age of 88. Born on July 9, 1936, in Atlanta, GA, he lived a life marked by dedication to the Lord, his family and his work.
Don spent his professional career as a Rates and Tariff Specialist for the Georgia Public Service Commission, where he contributed diligently to the field until his retirement. His commitment to his work was matched only by his devotion to his family.
Don was a man of strong faith and a master craftsman and woodworker. He loved the outdoors, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Carrie McGouirk, and his siblings, Howard McGouirk, Leon McGouirk, and Betty Busby.
Don is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Anne McGouirk, who he loved dearly. He leaves behind his cherished daughters, Janice Redding (William) and Judy Alderman (Ronnie). His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Jared Redding (Ashley), Meredith Redding, Perry Redding, Justin Alderman (Chandler), and Carly Alderman, as well as his great-grandchildren, Abbey Redding, Cohen Alderman and Greer Alderman.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Fairburn, with Dr. C. Richard Wells and Pastor Evan Hill officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
