James J. Minick, age 88, Bucks County, PA, passed away peacefully on Holy Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Chandler Hall Hospice in Newtown, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.
Born on February 8, 1937, in Pittsburgh, PA, Jim, as he was affectionately known to all, lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and quiet strength. He was a proud graduate of Kiski Preparatory School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in English from Grove City College. A hardworking and steadfast professional, Jim devoted much of his career to public service, working in Risk Management at SEPTA and later with NJ Transit until his well-earned retirement.
Jim and his beloved wife, Joanne, whom he fondly called his "sweetie pie",were longtime residents of Hamilton Township, where they raised their family and were active members of St. Gregory the Great Church. After Joanne's passing in 2003, Jim eventually relocated to Bucks County, PA, where he remained close to his children and grandchildren.
A man of simple pleasures and steadfast loyalty, Jim was an avid golfer who found joy in the game's quiet focus. He cherished watching his hometown Pittsburgh Pirates, and he never turned down a trip to Atlantic City or an afternoon at the Garden State Racetrack. He especially enjoyed a good breakfast at the local diners, where he could chat with friends or simply enjoy the routine of a familiar place.
Above all, Jim was a devoted family man. He was gentle, easygoing, and deeply kind-a steady presence in the lives of all who knew him. He had a quiet humor, a patient spirit, and a heart that never wavered. His legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, and everyone blessed to have known him.
The son of the late James E. and Mary Minick, Jim was predeceased by his cherished wife, Joanne Caruso Minick, and their beloved son, James "Chris" Minick. He is survived by his three loving daughters and their spouses: Nicole Minick Castor and her husband Randy, Aimiee Minick Rogers and her husband Sean, and Joanna Minick; his brother and sister-in-law, Timothy and Betty Minick. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Anna, Mia, and Clara Castor, Josephine and Genevieve Rogers, and Mary Scannella. He is also survived by many dear friends, extended family members, and all whose lives he touched.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road, Churchville, PA 18966. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Following the Mass, Jim will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, 400 Woolsey Street, Hamilton Township, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's honor to the Parkinson's Foundation, 5757 Waterford District Drive, Suite 310, Miami, FL 33126 or online at .
