On June 15, 2025, James W. Moore Jr. completed his earthly journey, passing peacefully on the Sabbath-the day of rest, fittingly for a man who lived every day like Christ, and on Father's Day, the day he was most proud of. Due to complications from surgery, Jim crossed the veil into the loving arms of his eternal sweetheart, Renee, whom he had dearly missed. He reunited with his beloved wife, his parents, and countless family and friends who have been patiently waiting to embrace him. Jim's homecoming is surely a joyful celebration on the other side, even as we mourn his absence here.
Born on December 16, 1944, Jim lived a life defined by faith, love, and service. A devoted husband to Renee and a proud father to Chris Moore (Monica), Jenni Wright (Dave), Heather Rinn (Brett), Aimee Ballif (Robert), and Tamie Talkington (Jared). Jim's heart overflowed with love for his children, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his sister (Susan), many cousins, nieces, nephews, and his cherished cat, Cheeto. His family was his greatest joy, and his pride in them shone brightly every day. He always supported and cheered his children and grandchildren on in everything they did, up until the very end. A proud alumnus of Highland High School and the University of Utah, Jim was a passionate "Utah Man" who bled red for his Utes. Whether cheering at games or reveling in victories over their rival, his enthusiasm for the University of Utah was infectious, embodied in the spirited chant:
"Who am I, sir? A Utah Man am I! A Utah Man, sir, will be 'til I die. Ki-yi!"
Jim's commitment to service was profound. A pillar in the Boy Scouts of America, he mentored countless young men to achieve their Eagle Scout rank and was honored with the prestigious Silver Beaver Award, a testament to his dedication to youth. His faith guided his life, and he served diligently in numerous callings and bishoprics within his church in Sandy and later Eagle Mountain, Utah. Jim's warm smile, quick wit, and signature greeting-"Hello, how are ya?"-lit up every room and endeared him to all who knew him.
After Renee's passing, Jim found solace living with his daughter's family in Eagle Mountain. He thrived in the joyful chaos of a bustling household filled with teasing, laughter, and the companionship of dogs and cats. Never a burden, Jim was a blessing, bringing love and light to those around him.
The funeral service to celebrate Jim's remarkable life will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 11:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4142 N Lake Mountain Rd, Eagle Mountain, Utah.
A viewing will take place prior, from 9:00am to 10:30am at the same place. He will be placed to rest at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
In honor of his passion for the Utes, the family invites attendees to wear red or University of Utah attire. In place of flowers, contributions via Venmo: @Heather-Rinn-1 to support expenses are greatly appreciated.
Though we grieve Jim's departure, we take comfort knowing he is reunited with Renee and surrounded by loved ones in eternity. His legacy of faith, kindness, and love will forever inspire those he leaves behind.

My very best to Susan and Jim's Children and Grandchildren. He is a wonderful guy and a true friend. We grew up together and were best friends from elementary school though collage. After the U, our lives went in different directions. He chased me down and we reunited at Highland 60th reunion. It was wonderful! I was hoping to meet up with him again. I waited too long. I am so sorry for all of our loss. Steve Price

Jenni and your family, Jim was one of my favorite people. I´ve known Jim since junior high. We´ve been good friends since our time at Highland High School and beyond. I was so glad I was responsible for you teaching with me at Mountview Elementary. When I retired and you took over my classroom, I told your dad that I was literally turning my classroom over to the next generation. I hope you have a happy retirement. I will miss seeing Jim at our class reunions. May he rest in peace. Love,
Leora Hewitt

Jim, my fondest and most vivid memories are of being in NSCC with you at Highland. You exuded positivity, compassion, and kindness I rarely saw other people. You are sorely missed RIP.
