James Patrick Morbit
James P. Morbit 65, of Toms River, NJ and Homestead, FL passed away peacefully
at his home surrounded by loved ones on June 3, 2024 after a brave and
courageous battle with ALS.
Jimmy is survived by his devoted and loving wife Kathryn (ZurHeide) Morbit and
loving brother Richard J. Morbit. He was predeceased by his parents Patrick J. and
Janet K. Morbit. He is also survived by loving cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-
law, nieces, nephews and numerous cherished friends, as well as his caregiver and
friend Barbara Austin. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Born in New Brunswick, NJ on January 16, 1959, Jimmy grew up in Piscataway, NJ.
He moved to Toms River, NJ in 2012.
Jimmy's career with Dunkin Donuts spanned over 49 years. He began at the
Somerset location and rose through the ranks. He continued at the corporate
level assuming various positions until he ventured on to store ownership.
Jimmy was happiest when he was fixing, tinkering, or remodeling. He was an avid
car guy, having designed, restored, remodeled, and built 6 custom street rods,
often winning prestigious awards. He hosted car shows in the parking lot of his
Somerset store. Jim enjoyed movies, fishing, dining out with friends, and traveling
with his wife to car shows or to their home in Florida.
Jimmy will be remembered for being an extremely kind, caring, and generous
person. He was always ready to help family, friends, or even complete strangers
with no expectation of reciprocation. He had a sharp, dry sense of humor. He was
a fiercely stubborn and determined individual who always did things the "Jimmy"
way.
Relatives and friends will be participating in the ALS Walk at Long Branch, NJ on 9-
14-2024. If you would like to participate, go to https//als-ny.org/get-
involved/events/walk-ALS/ Look for Jersey Shore to register on the existing
