James R. "Jim" Mullikin

James R. "Jim" Mullikin, 87, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at his residence in Whiteland. Jim was born on April 16, 1937 to Leroy E. and Mary Elizabeth (Moore) Mullikin in Franklin, Indiana. Survivors include his wife Sharon (Norton) Mullikin, son Jeffrey A. Mullikin (Melanie) and daughter Lisa A. (Mullikin) VanVleet (Mark), four grandchildren, Chad Mullikin (Kylie) and Cody Mullikin and Jeremy VanVleet (Kristen) and Jessica (VanVleet) Wishard (Nathan), four great-grandchildren, Macy VanVleet and McKenna VanVleet, Elijah Wishard and Kinslee Wishard and his beloved dog, Gracie. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Leroy M. and William E. Mullikin, and his first wife Alice M. (Barger) Mullikin. Jim was a graduate of Franklin High School and attended Franklin College, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He retired as the Asst. Chief of Acquisition and Material Management after thirty-six years of service at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. He served eight years of military service in the Naval Reserve. Jim was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He had many hobbies, as a coin and stamp collector as well as antiques. He enjoyed watching all sports, especially I.U. Jim truly enjoyed and loved being around his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 15th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Monday, December 16th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 114 Lancelot Drive, Franklin, Indiana 46131.
