James Jim Osgood passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. Although it was sudden, he did not suffer and is now reunited with his beloved wife, Bert.
Jim was born in February of 1940, in Wellsville, NY, the son of James Osgood and Gowanda (Densmore) Osgood. He graduated from Richburg High School (class of 1958) before enlisting in the United States Army (1959 1962). When he returned, he began a long career with the Corning Glass Works.
He met and married the love of his life, Roberta Abbott Osgood, where they moved to Addison and resided for their 59-year marriage prior to her passing in 2022. During their marriage, they spent many years together making friends and traveling as members of the Eastern Stars and Masons.
Jims life is best marked by the number of friends he had over the years. Nobody was ever a stranger to him, and he was always the first person to volunteer to help if ever there was someone in need. He rarely had spare time, as he was always busy with his hunting, fishing, playing cards, traveling to see family or with family. It was hard to be sad when Jim was around, and he wouldnt want us to be sad at his passing.
He is survived by his children, Audie (Jill) Osgood of Saunderstown, Rhode Island and Heidi (Ron) Johnson of Julian, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Colton (Amanda) Osgood, Garrett Osgood and Kyle Johnson; his brother, Jack (Carolina) Osgood of Richburg; his sister, Cindy Dick of Wellsville; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife, Roberta, and his parents Jim and Gowanda.
At this time, no services are planned, but a Celebration of Life will be held in May to allow more family and friends to attend to honor Jim.
Memorial contributions will be accepted at the Celebration of Life to be given to an organization
Jim was involved in. In addition, contributions can be mailed to Addison Masonic Lodge, suite
201, 41 Main Street, Addison, NY 14801. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of James D. Osgood, please visit our Tree Store.
