James R. Peterson

James R. "Jim" Peterson, 91, passed away Saturday, June 29, at his home in Libertyville, IL. Jim was born on April 8, 1933, in Beardstown, IL and moved to Illinois to attend Lake Forest College. He enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean War where he served in the 6th Bombardment Wing, stationed in Roswell, New Mexico. After discharge from the Air Force, he moved to Deerfield, IL and worked for the Illinois Bell Telephone/AT&T company for thirty-five years. Jim was an active member of the Lake Forest Church of the Covenants and the Air Force Gunners Association. Jim was extremely generous, devoted to his family and above all, his Creator. Jim was always ready to share memories and stories and visit the Air Museums with his family and friends.
Jim is survived by his daughter Barbara Peterson, grandson Angelo (Lauren) Grandi and two beautiful great-grandchildren, Forrest and Olivia Grandi.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty-one years, Rosalie "Cissy" Peterson, his cherished daughter, Lori Grandi, his brother Ronald Peterson, and his parents, Arthur and Carrie Peterson.
Visitation will be held at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home Monday, July 8, 2024, with visitation beginning at ten o'clock (10:00am). Funeral services will be immediately following visitation beginning at twelve o'clock (12:00pm). Interment will be at Ridgewood Memorial Park, Des Plaines, IL. The funeral home is located at 120 Park Ave. (Rt. 176, one block west of Milwaukee Ave.) in Libertyville, IL.
