James David Potenza, 56, of Aurora, Illinois, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
Born on April 26, 1968, in Chicago, Illinois, James was the beloved son of John and Barbara (née Lowe) Potenza.
James is survived by his loving wife of almost 24 years, Dawn Potenza (née Colucci); his cherished sons, Gianni, Gio, and Giuseppe Potenza; and his loving mother, Barbara (Charles) Gregory. He is also survived by his brothers, Dominic (Tina) Potenza and Joseph (Crystal) Potenza; his sister, Barbara (Paul) Potenza; his father- and mother-in-law, John and JoAnn Colucci; and his brothers- and sisters-in-law, John (Christine) Colucci Jr., Scot (Daniela) Colucci, Lynn Laskey, and Beth Colucci. He will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
James was preceded in death by his father, John Potenza.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 701 S. Eola Road, Aurora, Illinois. Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions in James's name may be made to the Dementia Society of America.
