James William Skelly, 83, of Wadsworth, passed away August 16, 2025 in his home.
Born in Massillon on April 30, 1942, Jim graduated from Washington High School. He went on to serve his country with honor in the U.S. Army National Guard. His commitment to community continued through his work at the Stark County Health Department until retirement.
He was a proud member of the American Legion and the Color Guard.
Outside of his service, Jim was an avid golfer, a fisherman, and a lover of nature. He enjoyed woodworking, especially crafting birdhouses adorned with his own personal sketches.
Jim is survived by his children, Laureen (Michael) Ferry and Tiffany (Douglas) Wiltanger; grandchildren, Ashley (Adam Steinkerchner) Martinez, Jonathon (Katie Hicks) Ferry, Elizabeth (Ben) Bowman, Leah Ferry, and Jocelyn Wiltanger; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacquelyn Sue Skelly (Miller); parents, William and Edna (Flounders) Skelly; and siblings, Ron and Ken Skelly.
The family will host an open house to celebrate Jim’s life on August 24, 2025 from 12 pm-4pm at 330 Great Oaks Trail, Wadsworth, OH 44281.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's name to a charity of your choice.
