James Boington Taylor, Sr., 90, of Orange Park, FL passed away June 23, 2025. He was born July 21, 1934 in Jacksonville, FL to the late Elbert Lee and Thelma Ruth (King) Taylor. James was of the Baptist faith and a dedicated member of Central Baptist Church in Orange Park, FL. He served our country honorably in the United States Army and then worked 33 years in Local 13 Heat & Frost Insulators Union.
James was a long time Orange Park Mall walker, and he met there with other walkers five days a week. When he got home, James would get into his golf cart and head to Publix or Walmart for his after walk walks. When he was not walking, James could be found watching Gunsmoke or Bonanza as those were his two favorite television westerns. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
James is preceded by his parents; best friend and wife of 33 years, Jewel Eva Taylor; sister, Helen Reynolds and brothers, Elbert "Pete" Taylor, Jr., Howard Marsh and Roger Marsh. He is survived by his son, James "Bo" Taylor, Jr.; grandchildren, Jennifer Trish Taylor and Melissa Rene Braddock; great grandchildren, Dawson James Elfstrom, Lindzey Caprice Elfstrom and Stella Jewell Krone with numerous extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Monday, June 30, 2025 in the Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Services will follow at 11:00am, Tuesday, July 1, 2025 in the Chapel with Pastor Jerry Thrower officiating.
