James Edward Vondett

James Edward Vondett, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully departed this world on December 5, 2023, in Sterling Heights, Michigan, at the age of 90. He was born on August 1, 1933, in Lewiston, Michigan.
James is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Janet, and their three children: David (Iole), Kristy (Jonathan) Decker, and Robert (Fran). His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Daniela (John) Selinski, Jacob, Jackson, Reagan, Madelyn, and James, as well as his great-grandchildren, Olivia and Luca. James also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
James was predeceased by his son, Joel, his parents, James and Emma Vondett, and his siblings: Jack, Helen (George) Schultheis, Bob, Frances (Warren) Fritz, Virginia (Arthur) Peracchio, Henry (Shirley), and Bette (William) Fritz.
A proud alumnus of Michigan State University, James graduated in 1961 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He dedicated himself to serving his country and was honorably discharged after bravely serving in the Army during the Korean War. Following his military service, James embarked on a distinguished 32-year career with Ford Motor, retiring in 1994.
On July 3, 1965, James married his loving wife, Janet, and together they built a life full of love, laughter, and shared experiences. He enjoyed spending quality time at the family home in Lewiston, creating cherished memories with his loved ones. James' laughter, wisdom, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A visitation will be held for James on Friday, December 8, 2023, from 2-8pm at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road (3 blks. E. of Van Dyke) in Utica. A funeral service will take place the following day on December 9, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 45160 Van Dyke Ave, with instate at 10am until the time of the service at 11am. Burial will take place following the funeral service at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West, 38425 Garfield Rd in Clinton Twp.
