James "Jamey" Edward Yarbrough, 39, of Hobbs, New Mexico passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.
Jamey was born on January 24, 1986, in Andrews, Texas to Jeanie Gilchrest Coates and Keith Yarbrough. He graduated from Hobbs High School in 2004 and was a salesman for Atlas Well Head for many years. He enjoyed playing golf, going fishing and hunting and he loved sports which included watching his beloved Dallas Cowboys every Sunday. Jamey was considered an excellent cook and loved feeding his family and friends. He was one of the funniest people you would ever meet and always had a story or joke to tell because he enjoyed making people laugh. Jamey was very charming also; along with his good looks, charm, and wit, his family said he was a natural born salesman and could sell fleas to an exterminator. He was a wonderful human being; always putting other people's needs ahead of his own. Jamey will be missed by all who have had the pleasure of meeting him, but he will never be forgotten.
Survivors include his daughter, Lakyn Yarbrough of Hobbs, New Mexico; parents, Jeanie Gilchrest Coates and her husband Glen Coates of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Keith and Brenda Yarbrough of Andrews; brothers, Travis Yarbrough of Andrews, Ronnie Backus of Little Rock, Arkansas, Ryan Backus of Hobbs, New Mexico and Jared Swindle of Andrews; grandparents, James and Betty Yarbrough of Andrews and Ronnie and Sue Gilchrest of Hobbs, New Mexico and Nellie Comeaux of Andrews; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins; aunts and uncles; co-workers and classmates who loved him dearly.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025, at McNett Funeral Home in Andrews. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025, at McNett Funeral Home with a burial to follow at Andrews County Cemetery.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Ronnie Backus, Travis Yarbrough, Ryan Backus, Sterling Riddle, Jordan Wells Bruce Norris and Luis Garcia.
