Jammie Lynn (Griffin) Carlisle, 56, of Louisville, passed away on April 3rd, 2022, in her home.
Jammie was born on May 4, 1965 in Louisville, KY, the daughter of Irv Griffin and Linda Hyers (Gary) and was the eldest sibling of five. Jammie was a loving mother to her daughter, Tiffany Anderson (Matt) and son, William Carlisle. Jammie is also survived by her parents; sister, Teresa Hebert (Ray); brothers, Steve and Robert Griffin; and sister-in-law, Michelle Hyers. Also left to cherish her memory include her favorite granddaughter, Robin Tyler; nieces, Angel Griffin, Jasmine and Katie Hyers; nephews, Jake, Nick and Zach Hebert, Nate, Austin, and Peyton Hyers; special friends Brenda, Cathy, Ron and numerous others from her travels around the world. Jammie was preceded in death by her brother, Jesse Hyers, and a host of extended family.
Jammie was proud to be a mother, daughter, aunt, and sister. Hosting amazing holiday and birthday parties for her family was something she looked forward to and planned well in advance. Christmas was an especially magical time for Jammie and her family, always decorating the tree the weekend after Thanksgiving. She sacrificed sleep and her own wants so she could be out early on Black Friday to make each Christmas magical.
Jammie graduated from Kentucky Polytechnic Institute and had a passion for the law and helping others to understand it. Even in the face of unexpected difficulties and setbacks, she was never short of a "Plan B". She was a sleuth and to those close to her, a mastermind. She held various positions, but most recently and rewarding for her, was the work with the American Red Cross and ride-share services. Her passion to accessorize and entrepreneurial spirit also led her to a successful career in jewelry sales.
The travel bug bit Jammie, and in August 2005, she set sail and enjoyed her first cruise. Little did she know that experience would propel her into the frontline of natural disaster recovery. In September 2005 she packed her bags once again and headed to New Orleans to assist with recovery efforts from Hurricane Katrina.
Over the next several years Jammie traveled extensively, from Louisiana to Texas to California, as she chased hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires and more; caring for those who had been through disaster and tragedy. Her passion for helping people spanned many years at the Red Cross, where she assisted local families who had been affected by house fires.
Jammie also spent many hours giving back to others in need through her personal mission work. She was a humanitarian who freely gave of herself and her energy, not only to organizations but perfect strangers as well. If she had something to give, she gave it, without a second thought. She was consistently ready to help in moments of need, no matter what or for whom.
Jammie will always be remembered for her loyalty to her family and friends, sharp mind, kind heart and sense of humor. Her eternal love for The Color Purple (both the movie and the hue), Barry Manilow, butterflies, cats, traveling and public service will forever be etched in our hearts
She will be forever loved and remembered "to the moon and back".
Jammie's wish to be cremated is being carried out, and a private service will be held at a later date, to be announced by the family.
