Jan Athanas, age 61 of Richland Center, passed away on December 30, 2022, after a brief illness. Jan resided in the Richland Center area her whole life. Jan graduated from Richland Center High School, in 1979. Jan loved all animals, reading thriller novels, candles, and 80's rock especially Bon Jovi. Jan was also a good pool player. Jan cared about all other people, always putting their needs before her own. Most recently, Jan worked as a caretaker for an elderly lady. Jan worked as a nursing assistant for Schmitt Woodland Hills in the past. Jan will be sadly missed by family and friends. Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Arlene Athanas.
Jan is survived by brothers, Michael (Patti) Athanas of Appleton, David (Andrea) Athanas, of Fitchburg, and Tom, (Jenny) Athanas of Brooklyn. Jan is also survived by nephews Sam, (Megan) Athanas of Deforest, Niko Athanas of Brooklyn, Nieces, Erin (Adam) Burns of Brooklyn, Abbie Athanas of Appleton, Sydney Athanas of Sun Prairie, and great nieces and nephews Aidyn, Brooks, and Delilah of Deforest.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023, at the Pratt Memorial Chapel from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Burial will be held at the Richland Center Cemetery at a later date. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
