Jane Raisor Williams

RICHMOND, Ind. - Jane Raisor Williams, age 98, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024. She was born on August 30, 1926, in Muncie, Indiana, to Bernard and Eula (Knox) Raisor and had lived in Richmond since 1948. Jane married Richard F. Williams on July 9, 1950, in Muncie.Jane graduated from Burris High School and Ball State University in Muncie and later took graduate classes in Mexico City and Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. She continued publishing a monthly Burris 44 Newsletter for her graduating class up to the date of her death. Janes teaching career began at Richmond High School in 1948, where she taught Physical Education, Health, Drivers Training, and co-sponsored the Block R cheering block. She resigned this position in 1956 when their first child was born.In 1976, Jane became an instructor at Indiana Vocational Technical College (now Ivy Tech Community College) in Richmond and later became Department Chairperson of the Secretarial Science Department. In 2013, she won the Ivy Tech Adjunct Faculty Award for excellence in instruction. Jane was a lifelong learner, assisting family with computer questions well into her 80s, she loved word puzzles, knitting, and gardening. Many families in Richmond have lilies in their yards that came from starts given to them by Jane.Survivors include two daughters, Sally (Steve) Williams Porter and Linda (Tim) Williams Przybysz; two grandsons, John (Jessica) Przybysz and Tyler (Jaclyn) Przybysz; great-grandchildren Naelyn, Arlo, and Samson Przybysz, Lydia Jane and Jack Przybysz, nieces; a nephew; and many friends. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Richard F. Williams in 2022; parents; brother, Dr. Robert (Edwina) Raisor; and aunt, Lela Knox. Special thank you to the kind and caring staff at Forest Park Health Campus.Private services for Jane Raisor Williams will be held at the convenience of the family with burial at Earlham Cemetery.
