JANET G. BUMGARDNER

BUMGARDNER, Janet G., 71, of Goochland, Va., went to be with her Lord after a long illness on July 24, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest H. Giles and Eliza V. Giles; one brother, Lester; two grandsons, Michael and Jay; and a daughter-in-law, Tammy. She is survived by her husband, Don; and children, Mike (Janie), Tim, Bill and Bobbi; 16 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous foster children, two brothers and three sisters. She was retired from a long career in the insurance industry. Janet loved children and spent much of her life tirelessly advocating for them through foster programs and ultimately as a C.A.S.A. caseworker. Children remained the most important concern in her life, to the very end. Family will receive friends at the Norman Funeral Home, Goochland, Va. on Saturday, July 27, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. She was a member of Ragland Memorial Baptist Church, where funeral services will be held on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 3 p.m. Interment church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Goochland C.A.S.A, P.O. Box 910, Goochland, Va. 23063.
