Jan Gregory Frazer, of Naples, Florida, died on January 24, 2010. She resided in Naples for 48 years.
Jan loved to tell everyone that she was born on an island -- and she was. She was born on the island of Manhattan, NY on March 7, 1930. After graduating from the Emma Willard School in Troy, New York, and Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, Jan worked for the McMillan Company and the McGraw-Hill Book Company as a copywriter.
Jan moved to Naples in 1962 and married Robert 'Rip' Frazer. In addition to working with her husband in his 'Sports and Specialties' store on Fifth Avenue South, Jan also worked as a freelance writer for more than 30 years, and was published in numerous American newspapers and magazines.
She was a gifted writer and avid reader, and combined her skills and interests to become a successful book reviewer for 19 years, working both in print and on-air for television and radio stations in Southwest Florida and Ellsworth, Maine.
Jan is survived by her beloved son, Russell G. Frazer, and daughter-in-law, Lynne Howard Frazer; a brother, Bruce Laramie Gregory (Diane) of New York City; and a sister, Mary 'Tibby' Reynolds (Bob) of Morristown, New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rip Frazer.
