Janet A. Norcross

Janet Ann (Dunleavy) Norcross, 61 of Newton, Massachusetts passed away on December 7, 2023 after complications due to a stroke. She was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelors degree in criminal justice. She took her love for children and became a teacher not only in public schools but as a CCD teacher on Sundays at Our Lady's Church in Newton. She had the utmost faith in God and lived by his example each and everyday.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, the love of her life and best friend Robert, her other best friends, her two daughters Tiarra and Paige and the light of her life grandson Braeden Norcross, her brothers John and William Dunleavy, her nieces and nephews Brianne and Andrea Dunleavy, Sean Egan, James Dunleavy, Cailee Dunleavy and Rhiannon Egan, and many other loving family members and friends. She was the daughter of the late John Dunleavy and Lillian Dunleavy. Janet was one of 5 children and was the sibling of the late Susan and James Dunleavy, her siblings were undoubtedly the other best friends of her life.
Family and loyalty were the overall theme and inspiration of Janet's life. She lived for her family and gave everything she had for that sole purpose.
Janet loved to travel around the world, especially to Jamaica and Ireland. She wore her Irish culture, proudly not only in her heart but with her bright beautiful red hair passed down by generations of Irish ancestors. She was deeply rooted in her Irish culture.
She always gave back to the community whether it was to help a neighbor, tip the hard work of her letter carrier or anyone in need. Janet was a very generous woman with so much love in her heart.
She will be greatly missed everyday. The world is a better place because she was in it.
A Memorial Mass for Janet will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 14 at 10:30AM in Our Lady's Church, 573 Washington St, Newton. Burial will be private.
