Janet H. Wedell, 86, of Dixon, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Heritage Square in Dixon. She worked as a Floral Designer in the Chicago-land area for many years and was spectacular at her work. She also owned & operated a Butcher Shop in Downers Grove, IL, alongside her husband for 34+ years.
Janet was born on August 19, 1938, in Berwyn, IL, the daughter of Edward and Mae (Moutasek) Sterc. She married James L. Wedell on April 4, 1959, in Downers Grove. He preceded her in death on July 28, 2015. Janet was an amazing cook, floral designer, and all-around person. She took great pride in her work and her family - especially her grandchildren. She was so proud to be their grandma. Janet also loved to garden and was pretty darn good at fishing back in the day. Her loving spirit will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
Janet is survived by her son, Ed (Trudy) Wedell of Dixon; daughter, Kathleen (William) Wolfe of Downers Grove; one sister, Beverley (Dennis) Krause of Venice, FL; and two grandchildren, Will Wolfe and Lauren (Anthony) Alicea.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
A Graveside Service will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon, with Pastor Jack M. Briggs, officiating. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon.
