Janice Willis Boatwright

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janice Willis Boatwright, a beloved mother, grandmother, and dedicated educator, who left this world peacefully on August 17, 2025, at the age of 86. Born in Bremen, Georgia, on April 15, 1939, Janice dedicated her life to the betterment of others through her work in education. She served as Superintendent of the Haralson County School System, where her passion for teaching and nurturing young minds touched the lives of countless students and families. Janice's warmth and compassion were evident in all that she did, whether it was in the classroom or out in the community. She was a guiding light for many, inspiring those around her with her unwavering commitment to education and her genuine care for students' well-being.

Besides her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, James Boatwright, Sr; her brother, Gerald Willis; and nephew, David Willis.

Janice is lovingly survived by her son, Jim Boatwright (Ashlyn); her daughter, Jamee Boatwright; her cherished grandchildren, Madison and Jayden Boatwright; sister-in-law, Begie Willis; as well as many nieces and nephews. Her family will hold her memory close to their hearts as they navigate life without her bright spirit.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Janice's life. A visitation will be held at Hightower Funeral Home on August 22, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, where stories and memories can be shared.

The funeral service will take place at Hightower Funeral Home on August 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Herb Butler Officiating. George Baltzegar and Rob Eaves will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. We invite all those who knew and loved Janice to join us in honoring her legacy and the lasting impact she made on the lives of so many.
