Jarod LaFever, age 42, of Mustang, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024. He was born on September 20, 1982 to Linda and Lynn LaFever. After high school, he earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Central Oklahoma and a master's degree from Southern Nazarene University.
He worked in graphic design.
At the age of 15, Jarod broke his neck on a trampoline and spent the last 26 years as a quadriplegic. Prior to his accident, he was a talented athlete, wrestler, and gymnast. He was a firestorm of energy and love of life.
After his accident, he lived life just like any other teenager. He drove, though sometimes not very well. He loved poker and thought he was great at it – though that is questionable as well. He continued his love of knowledge and loved a good discussion and argument of opposing views. When he wasn't driving his van, he was traveling around in his chair, scaring friends and loved ones as he traversed the sidewalks, parking lots, and sometimes the center of Highway 152.
His ultimate accomplishment was inspiring others. His loving, friendly, and feisty personality made him loved by all. He never was one to feel sorry for himself, instead he lifted the spirit of others. Knowing what Jarod had been through, family and friends were inspired to "suck it up and move through and past whatever obstacles and problems that life had thrown at them".
At his core, he loved the Lord and trusted in his Maker's plan for his life.
Always remember, as the song says, "Our blessings may come through raindrops and healing come through tears." Just as Jarod did, trust in the Lord's plan for your life.
Jarod is survived by his mother and father, Linda and Lynn LaFever; brother Josh and wife Haley, nephews Phinn and Rooney and brother Chris; grandmother Velva Jo LaFever; uncle Larry and Elaine Copeland, aunt Roni Copeland and cousins Crista Copeland, Jeremy Copeland, Micah Copeland, and Ryan Copeland.
He is preceded in death by his uncles Greg LaFever and Jim Copeland.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, November 8th, at 10am at the Bridge Church in Mustang.
