Jason Edward Attaway, born April 19, 1971, in Longview, TX. Jason gained his eternal wings on May 8, 2025, in Palestine, TX. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Lenise Attaway and beloved son of Nancy Lanelle McMichael Cooke.
Scats as he was affectionately known by his closest friends and family, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this Earth was one marked by love, compassion and an unwavering faith. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family and friends and many more who's lives he touched while serving as a volunteer firefighter and on the open roads as a truck driver. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact he had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Jason is survived by his loving wife Patricia Lenise Attaway, his mother Nancy Lanelle McMichael Cooke, his son Jason Edward Attaway Jr. of Montana, daughter Amber Renee Attaway Mooney and husband Brendon of Hawkins TX, stepson Dustin Lee Jennings of Palestine TX, stepdaughter Lacey Danielle Wolf of Athens, his brother Robert Norwood Attaway and wife Shelby of Mineola. He also leaves behind four grandkids and a number of Aunts, Uncles and a host of cousins who shared his fun loving spirit and adored him dearly.
Jason is proceeded in death by his Dad Edward Lee Attaway and grandparents of both.
Those who knew Jason will remember him for his infectious smile and over-whelming laughter, his deep rooted faith in family. His love for the out doors and gun enthusiast. He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. Jason was the most kind caring man who would give you his last penny or the shirt off his back. He was always around to lend that helping hand where needed. He was a loving husband and father. And will be missed deeply.
The celebration of life of will be held June 7th at Red Springs Baptist Church, 131 FM 16, Tyler TX 75706, with Brother J.N. Metcalf officiating. Services will begin at 10:30am.
Flowers/plants can be sent to Red Springs Baptist Church the morning of service.
