Jason John Burns, 42, of Chicago, IL left this world on Saturday, June 14, 2025. He was born on Tuesday, February 22, 1983 in Chippewa Falls, WI.
He is the son of Terry and Sheila Burns of Winneconne, WI, the brother to Jamie Knapstein of Arlington Heights, IL, and spouse to Xiaolang Wang of Chicago, IL.
Jason grew up in both Marshfield and Appleton, WI. He graduated from Appleton West High School in 2001, and the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire in 2006 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management Information Systems. His talent and giftedness in the area of technology was nothing short of amazing. His desire was always to offer superior support and problem-solving in an easy and understandable way. His employers and colleagues always commented on his ingenuity and friendly demeanor. Jason's friends appreciated his wit and sense of humor, as well as his ability to make anyone he was around feel at ease.
Jason will be remembered by his family and those who loved him dearly as fun-loving, kind, and light-hearted. He was a deeply loving son, brother, spouse and joyful uncle. He had a unique gift for making his nieces laugh and such a playful spirit when spending time with them.
Jason's unexpected passing comes as a shock to his family, friends, and loved ones, who are still reeling from the loss. He still had so much life ahead of him and was taken far too soon.
Jason was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Donald Burns of Chippewa Falls, WI; his maternal grandfather, Norman Koch of Chippewa Falls, WI; his nieces Ava and Addison Knapstein of Arlington Heights, IL; and his Aunt, Sheryl Schoenfeld of Christchurch, New Zealand.
Jason is survived by his parents, Terry and Sheila Burns of Winneconne, WI; his sister, Jamie (Michael) Knapstein of Arlington Heights, IL; his spouse, Xiaolang Wang of Chicago, IL, his nieces, Aubrey, Isla and Everly Knapstein of Chicago, IL; his paternal grandmother, Sharree Burns of Chippewa Falls, WI; his maternal grandmother, Mari Koch of Chippewa Falls, WI; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Caring Cremations of Chicago, IL will be handling Jason's final disposition. A celebration of Jason's life will be held sometime this summer in Chicago, IL to honor his short and valuable life.
