Jason W. Viar, 51, of Fernandina Beach, passed away on January 18, 2025, at the Clyde E. Lassen Veterans Nursing Home in St. Augustine. Born on September 6, 1973, in Valparaiso, Indiana, Jason lived a life of dedication and service.
A proud and honorable veteran, Jason retired from the United States Marine Corps with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant after 22 years of faithful service to his country. His commitment to duty, leadership, and the values of the Marine Corps left a lasting impact on those who served alongside him.
Jason is survived by his wife, Kimberly Viar, of Fernandina Beach; his parents, Larry and Linda Viar, of Dasher, GA; his four children, Colten Viar of Jacksonville and Cameron Viar of Fernandina Beach; Brandon Caroon (Lauren) of Gainesville, and daughter, Brittany Mazzini (Brandon) of Mayport; his brothers, David Viar (Terry), Gerald Viar (Kathleen), and James Viar (Alicia), all of Lake Park, GA, Michael Lawrence(Kym); and a granddaughter, Cora Viar. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home, with interment services to follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m., where Jason will receive military honors. St. Johns Family Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Folds of Honor, foldsofhonor.com in Jason's name. Jason's legacy of service, devotion to family, and love for life will forever be cherished by his loved ones, friends, and the community he served so faithfully.
