Jay Deemer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Clawson on Jun. 22, 2022.
Jay C. Deemer died June 11, 2022. He was 70 years old. Jay was born on September 21, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan to parents, Evelyn (nee Stieber) and John Deemer.
Jay grew up in Detroit and graduated from Denby High School. He continued his education at GMI (now Kettering University) where he completed his undergrad and then attended Wayne State University for graduate school. He became an expert salesman in the automotive industry; a career that would take him all over the globe. As Vice President of sales, and a loyal employee, he helped develop and was directly responsible for marketing antilock brakes. He marketed them globally, and as a result, changed automotive history. Because of Jay's marketing efforts, antilock brakes are now standard.
Along with a successful career in sales, Jay was a devoted family-man and enjoyed numerous hobbies. He was a devoted husband for 39 years to his beloved wife Debby who preceded him in death in 2015. He was a proud and loving father, grandfather, brother and son. He cherished his grandson, Oliver. He helped teach him to read and was always ready to show you a picture of his Pride and Joy.
Jay was an accomplished golfer and played in many pro-am tournaments across the world. He was an avid distance runner, loved playing black jack, and was very good at euchre. He was a big fan of the Detroit Tigers, Bruno Mars, and Billy Joel. He was also passionate about the Father Solanus Casey Center and Capuchin Soup Kitchen and took great pride in and care of every vehicle he owned.
Jay had strong faith and was a devout Catholic. He will be remembered as a true gentleman, a hard worker, and a fighter. He was graceful, stylish, and a consummate professional. He was generous, funny, made everyone feel welcome and comfortable upon meeting them. Jay was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Jay is survived by his loving children, Chris Deemer and Carrie (Mike) Leser. He is also survived by his cherished grandson, Oliver Leser and his dear sister, Carol Gardner. Jay is preceded in death by his wife, Debby.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, Troy, Michigan 48084 on Wednesday, June 15 at 10:30am. Friends may visit beginning at 10am.
Burial will follow in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy.
