Jay Allen Hustead

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jay Allen Hustead, age 73, on February 28, 2025. Born on November 6, 1951, Jay was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who brought joy, laughter, and creativity to all who knew him.
Jay was born in Uniontown, PA, and spent his early years in Fairchance, PA, and Youngstown, OH, before moving to Westland, MI, where he spent the remainder of his childhood. Jay was a graduate of Livonia Franklin High School and went on to further his education with a degree in Advertising from Ferris State University. Jay enjoyed a distinguished career at Blue Care Network and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, where he created, designed, and published numerous advertising campaigns that showcased his incredible talent. He also utilized his skills to assist local businesses, creating memorable and impactful advertising that left a lasting impression.
Jay was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Hustead. He is survived by his devoted mother, Lois Hustead; his loving sisters, Linda Pender (David Pender) and Kay Shafii; his cherished nieces, Kimberly Haley (Charles Haley), Melissa Pender (Corey Prout), and Jennifer Grills (John Grills); and his three beloved cats, Pettie, Bella, and Gracie.
Jay's passion for creativity was matched only by his zest for life. He was the life of every gathering, known for his sharp wit, infectious sense of humor, and ability to light up any room. Whether telling a joke, sharing a story, or simply being a supportive friend, Jay's presence was one that brightened the lives of those around him.
He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his kindness, creativity, and the joy he brought to all who were lucky enough to know him.
A memorial service will be held at Frazer Funerals in South Lyon, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jay's memory to The Michigan Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
