Jean Elizabeth Adams, 72, longtime native of Plymouth Indiana, and a more recent resident of Zionsville, IN, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital of Indianapolis, IN. Her family was by her side.
Jean was born on September 13, 1952 to Robert and Virginia (Ruggles) Tanner in South Bend, IN. She attended Plymouth Schools and was a 1970 graduate of Plymouth High School. There, she was involved in Sunshine Society, Rockettes, Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Pit Band for musicals, and involved in variety shows. During her teenage years, you might also find her working at the Model Pharmacy downtown. Over the adult years, she would eventually work as an administrative assistant for accounting firms. She married William M. "Bill" Adams on November 21, 1980 in Plymouth, IN. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church of Plymouth, Tri Kappa, Psi Iota Xi Sorority, a volunteer at Marshall County Hospice, a Booster Club member, and a former member of the board of directors for the Marshall County Humane Society. She enjoyed listening to music and going to concerts, especially Jimmy Buffett and the Doobie Brothers. She loved traveling, shopping, wintering in Florida, and spending time with her family.
Jean was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hubert and Helen Tomlinson Tanner, Cliff and Ruth Ruggles, her parents, Robert and Virginia Tanner, her brothers, William Tanner, and infant David Chapman Tanner, and her husband, William "Bill" Adams (February 9, 2018).
Jean will be dearly missed by her sons: Brad (Brandy) Ebert of Plymouth, IN; Michael P. Adams of Zionsville, IN; her grandchildren: Michael and Makayla Ebert of Plymouth, IN; her great-grandchildren: Giovanni and Sophia Ebert, brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Van Gilder Funeral Home (300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, IN).
A funeral mass will follow at 12:00 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church (612 N. Walnut St., Plymouth, IN 46563).
A private burial will take place in New Oak Hill Cemetery (1300 Chester St., Plymouth, IN).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Jean's honor to Marshall County Humane Society (P.O. Box 22, Plymouth, IN 46563 or https://mchsshelter.org/index.html).
