Jean Lathrop Obituary

Jean A. Seely Lathrop, 80, of McKean, passed away Wednesday August 13, 2025. She was born in Oil City, PA on January 30, 1945 a daughter of the late Norman M. and Gertrude Proper Seely.
Jean worked as a sales clerk representative at TJ Maxx and was a member of the State Police of Crawford and Erie Counties for 25 years where she earned the rank of captain.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Clarence W. Lathrop; one brother, J. Leo Seely; and one sister, Helen Wood.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Kotapski of McKean and Lynn Johnson of Duluth, MN; one son, Peter Kotapski (Daniela Verga-Kotapski) of Colonial, NJ; five step-children; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Burial will take place on Monday August 18th at 1:30 p.m. in East Troy Cemetery in Hydetown, PA. Funeral arrangements were made by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, 16504.
