Jeanie Elaine Thies, 77, of Stilwell, Kansas, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, at the Olathe Hospice House. Born on December 18, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri, Jeanie was a bright and vibrant presence throughout her life.
Growing up in the Kansas City area, she graduated from Southeast High School with the class of 1966. Shortly after high school, she began her career at Hallmark Cards, where she met her future husband, Steve Thies. Jeanie and Steve were united in marriage on September 7, 1968, at the Queen of the Holy Rosary Wea Catholic Church. Together, they built a warm and loving home starting in Kansas City, Missouri, later moving to Overland Park, Kansas. She was a constant source of encouragement, cheering them on as they played sports. Her love extended to her grandchildren, Demetrius and Andrew, with whom she cherished special moments filled with joy.
Jeanie returned to the workforce later in life, finding fulfillment in her position at Demars Pension Consultants, where she worked for many years until her retirement.
Beyond her professional achievements, Jeanie was an active member of the Queen of the Holy Rosary Wea Parish, generously volunteering her time to assist with social functions and community events at the church throughout the year. She shared a love for adventure with Steve, enjoying trips to the casino where they created cherished memories together. An ardent sports fan, Jeanie proudly supported the Kansas City Royals and the University of Kansas basketball teams.
Jeanie was known for her vibrant personality, reflected in her colorful clothing and immaculate home. She had a knack for maintaining order, ensuring everything had its place, and she never left a job unfinished. Her spirit of support and love influenced everyone around her.
Jeanie's memory will forever be cherished by her loving husband, Steve Thies; her two sons, Bob (Beatrice) Thies and Mike Thies; her brother, Robert (Mary) Ballowe; her sister, Kathy Ballowe; and her adoring grandchildren, Demetrius and Andrew Thies.
