Jeanne M. Glassel

Jeanne M. Glassel, age 99, of Howell, passed away peacefully Monday, April 17, 2023, in Howell, MI. She was born February 11, 1924, in Irwin, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Clyde W. and Delphine E. (Futcher) Miller. She is survived by her daughter Carol (Tony Williams) Glassel and daughter-in-law Micky (Schroeder) Glassel. She is survived by her grandsons Oren Grossman and his children, Harvey and Ruth Grossman; grandson Boone and his wife, Rita Williams and their children, Ila, Anthony, and Aerith Williams; grandson Ross and his wife, Kate Paton and their son, Alexander Paton; and grandson, Dan Paton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oren Glassel whom she married on May 28th, 1945, in Detroit; sons Roger and Jon Glassel, and her brother Robert Miller.
Jeanne enjoyed spending a lot of quality time with her grandchildren and was a proud great-grandmother. She was an avid tennis player and participated in many other activities such as walking, bicycling, hiking, and canoeing.
She took an interest in flying at a young age where she met Oren, her flight instructor. It was a memorable time because not only did she meet her future husband she was also able to solo the plane. Oren and Jeanne lived a full life including owning/operating the Western Auto Store beginning in 1964, which became Howell Cycle. They also loved Lake Havasu City, AZ, and spent many winters there in retirement.
