In Loving Memory of Jeffery Wilson Mullis
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this, everyone will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another.” - John 13:34-35
Jeffery Wilson Mullis, 61, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025, in the loving presence of his two children and sister. Jeffery was born on December 2, 1963, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to the late John Wilson Mullis Jr. and Mayme Saddler Mullis. He demonstrated incredible resilience throughout his life, accomplishing many outstanding feats despite difficult circumstances.
Jeff graduated at the top of his class from Mountain Mission School, receiving scholarship aid to attend American University. While at American University, he received an internship with John W. Warner, U.S. Senator from Virginia, selected from among six hundred aspirants for the opportunity. Shortly after, Jeff met Nelly Velez, with whom he had two children: John Camilo and Catalina María. Jeff often described his children as “his whole world” and the “lights of his life.” He loved them both deeply and remained incredibly proud of all their accomplishments.
Later in life, Jeff went on to receive a Master of Science from the University of Cincinnati. He also served as a loving member of various church communities, reminding himself and others of God’s unconditional love for humanity, in all of its beautiful and unique presentations.
The family will receive family and friends from 9:25 am - 9:50 am, Friday, February 14, 2025, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 525 Lake Concord Rd. NE, Concord, NC 28025. The funeral service will follow at 10:00 am, officiated by the Reverend Nancy Cox.
