With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mark L. Sandmann, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated teacher, coach, and mentor who passed away on October 4, 2025, at the age of 59. Born on February 14, 1966, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Mark was a bright light in the lives of those who knew him. He was the cherished son of the late Albert Sandmann and late Joyce Sandmann, and his memory will forever be etched in the hearts of his family and friends.

Mark was the beloved husband of 35 years to Wendy Sandmann. Their love story blossomed during their college days and was characterized by mutual support and a partnership filled with cherished memories. Together, they created a nurturing home for their two children, Tyler (Caroline) Sandmann and Nicole (Eric) Miller, and welcomed joy into their lives through their grandchildren: Albert Ludwig Sandmann and another grandchild on the way. He was a proud uncle to his niece, nephews and great nieces. His family brought him immeasurable happiness, and his spirit will forever carry on through stories filled with love and laughter.

Mark was a proud graduate of St. Xavier High School and the University of Cincinnati, where he earned his bachelor's degree. He dedicated his career to educating and uplifting children and young adults with special needs at Oak Hills High School and Sunman Dearborn Middle School. His compassion and commitment extended beyond the classroom as he worked at New Horizons, guiding adults with special needs to find meaningful employment in their communities. His compassion and commitment to those he worked with were a true reflection of his character, and the impact he made on their lives was profound.

Mark's love for sports was infectious. Known as a supportive coach for the East Central girl's basketball teams and girl's golf teams. He loved having the opportunity to combine his passion for mentoring and sports through many years of coaching youth basketball, baseball and softball, including many of his own children's teams. He was a lifelong fan of the Cincinnati Reds and proudly celebrated his wedding day during the 1990 Reds World Series Championship game, dancing with the brooms for the sweep of a lifetime. His loyalty also extended to the UC Bearcats, as he passionately cheered for his teams, embodying the spirit of community and togetherness. Mark's joy for life and connection with others was a testament to his generous spirit, as he never met a stranger and left an impact on everyone he encountered.

In honor of Mark's remarkable life, a visitation will take place at Frederick Funeral Home, located at 2553 Banning Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45239, on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 12:00 PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life and share in the memories that bring us together. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Horizons, 237 Six Pine Ranch Rd. Batesville, IN 47006, Kingdom Inclusion, 8352 Crosspointe Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45255 or Metzcor, 2859 Boudinot Ave, Cincinnati, OH 4523 to continue Mark's legacy of kindness and support for the special needs community.

As we reflect on Mark's life, let us remember the laughter he brought into our lives, the support he extended with open arms, and the love that will continue to guide us in the days ahead. Mark will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will forever illuminate our hearts.

There are no words that can truely express the depth of sorrow I feel. Mark was more than any best friend and best man - he was my family. He was the big brother I never had and the big brother I needed. We shared so many memories and his absence leaves a space that can never be filled. Mark was the finest soul and his good nature was beyond compare.

I will miss my friend....

I'm going miss you Mark - your smile and your laugh. You've been such an awesome friend for so much of my life. There are just so many fond memories -- be it softball, fishing, playing golf - especially down at Fernbank...lol - playing cards with you and my family. The smokebombs that old tank you used to drive spit out... Simply put - you are a GOOD person and it is an honor to call you my friend. I thank for putting up with me all these years. It's really difficult knowing I'm not going be able to see you - it saddens me deeply. But I know in my heart and in our faith that you have moved on to a better place, and God willing I look forward to seeing you again. Rest in Peace my friend. God Bless
