Jeffrey Allen Byrd, 58, entered eternal rest after a courageous battle with heart and kidney disease on Saturday, June 1st, 2024, at Grand Valley Health & Living in Martinsville. He was born Monday, April 25, 1966, in
Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Michael J. and Charlene (Nicely) Byrd.
Jeffrey lived in Morgan County most of his life. He was a Mooresville High School graduate with the Class of 1984. He was a firefighter and EMT for Brown Township Fire Department and Brooklyn Township Volunteer Fire Department and Lifestar Ambulance until 1995. He also worked various jobs until 2008, when he became disabled. He was a member of the Church of Christ York Street in
Martinsville, Indiana. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, watching NASCAR and time shared with his family.
He leaves behind a host of loving family including his wife, Sharon M. (Cummings) Byrd of Martinsville, whom he married on April 22, 1995. He also leaves behind his children, Brittany Scott (husband, Dylan) of
Danville, Indiana, Dylan Kelsay (wife, Jourdyn) of Camby, Indiana and Allie Megl (husband, Kaymen) of
West Lafayette, Indiana; brother, Joseph Byrd (wife, Rita) of
Franklin, Indiana; grandchildren, Chandler, Damien, Iva, Lila Jane, Rachel, Evan and Maggie; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Duane and Pat Cummings of
Martinsville, Indiana; sister-in-law, Judy Cummings of
Martinsville, Indiana; brother-in-law, Jerry Cummings (wife, Karen) of
Indianapolis, Indiana and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, Virginia Byrd and brother-in-law, Dan Cummings.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 5:00-8:00 pm and Friday, June 14th from 10:00-11:00 am at Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center. A service celebrating Jeffrey's life will begin Friday, June 14th at 11:00 am at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Friendship Park Cemetery in
Paragon, Indiana.
