Jeffrey Michael Carver
July 22, 1948 - April 16, 2024
Jeffrey Michael "Mike" Carver was born in Ann Arbor Michigan on July 22, 1948 to John H. Carver Jr. and Virginia (Baughn). Mike graduated from Pinckney High School and attended DeVry University in Chicago before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era. He then used his G.I. Bill to earn his pilot's license. Mike started out as a flight instructor to build up flight hours and eventually earned his commercial pilot's license. He flew for several cargo carriers including USA Jet, Kalitta Airlines and Zantop International Airlines. Mike finished his flying career of over 40 years at Spirit Airlines where he retired as a Captain and Check Airman.
After retirement, Mike attended Eastern Michigan University where he earned his Bachelors degree in Aviation Management and then his Masters in Entrepreneurship.
Mike cherished his family and friends. He made it a point to stay in touch with so many of his flying buddies, often having breakfast with fellow retirees. Mike was always a great storyteller, entertaining friends and strangers alike. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Mike is survived by his son John H. Carver IV, daughter-in-law Erin, twin grandsons Kaden and Liam, brother Carl Scott Carver, sisters Cindy Huber, Lynda Andrews, Lori (Chris) Strong, brother-in-law Dennis Quinn, sisters-in-law Sharon Quinn (the late Phil Fenton), Darlynn (Chuck) Potters and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step father Henry Gilbertson and brother John H. Carver III.
The family will have a private service at a later date.
