Jeffrey Weger Obituary

Jeffrey Dean Weger (Jeff), 64, of Highlands, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, in the presence of his loving wife.

Born on September 27, 1960, in Lawrence County, Illinois, Jeff was raised in Flat Rock, Illinois, and graduated from Robinson High School in 1978.

After high school, Jeff began his career in homebuilding as a partner at M&W Builders. He later joined Chicago Bridge & Iron (CBI), where he became a respected Construction Superintendent. Jeff retired from CBI after 25 years of dedicated service. Following retirement, he and his wife, Susan, returned to Highlands to be closer to their grandchildren.

Jeff met Susan, the love of his life, on a blind date at Pappas Seafood in 1993. Their connection was instant, and just two years later, they were married on May 27, 1995. With Susan came her two children, Jamie and Seth Carpenter, whom Jeff absolutely loved as his own. For 30 years, Jeff led his family with love, devotion, patience, and an unwavering sense of humor.

Known for his hardworking nature, loyalty, and playful spirit, Jeff brought laughter everywhere he went. Friends often called him "MacGyver" for his ability to fix just about anything. If Jeff liked you, he teased you-and if you reacted, he teased even more. To know Jeff was to love him. He never entered a room without a joke and was always ready for fishing, a weekend at the camp house, a card game or a round of golf with family and friends.

Jeff's greatest joy came from being "Pops" to his four grandchildren, who adored him deeply. He laughed, played, fished, and shared his knowledge with them every chance he could. Though he proudly avoided changing a dirty diaper, Pops was every bit the softhearted pushover he claimed only Nana to be. His grandchildren knew it, and they loved him all the more for it.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Bob Weger; stepmother, Carolyn Weger; and stepfather, Jack Hixon.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Weger; children, Jamie Stanbery and husband Jason, and Seth Carpenter and wife Chelsey; and four cherished grandchildren, Lawson and Drew Stanbery, and Logan and Mason Carpenter. He is also survived by his mother, Linda Hixon; sister, Carmen Walton and husband Frank; sister-in-law, Teri Litras and husband Chris; along with two nieces, two nephews, three great-nieces, and six great-nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10:00–11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Sterling-White Funeral Home in Highlands, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
