Jenina Kay Henley, 55, of Indianapolis gained her heavenly wings on February 22, 2024. She was born on June 28, 1968, in Decatur, Illinois to her parents, Jerry and Nancy McDowell.
It was simple; to know Jenina was to love her. Her infectious laugh and love fulfilled those around her, always leaving people feeling nothing less than accepted and supported by her. Jenina’s faith in God was unwavering. She and her family were devoted members of Calvary Temple and in recent years, McCordsville Community Church. She was the epitome of “Love Thy Neighbor”, taking in those in need and giving them her unconditional love. 34 years ago, Jenina married the love of her life, John Henley. Over the years, they have blended their lives, creating a beautiful family with tons of unforgettable memories. John and Jenina enjoyed comedy clubs, movies, and music together. They were truly made for each other. Jenina never fell short of showing up for her children, and especially her grandchildren. She was affectionately known as “Granny” and took her grandmother duties very seriously. Jenina was a devoted employee at Bhar Printing for 16 years. She leaves behind an extended work family that was honored to work alongside her. Jenina’s spirit will be missed by those who were lucky enough to experience it. Her memory will continue to live on through her beloved family, friends, and even strangers who received her kindness.
Jenina is survived by her loving husband, John Henley; her beloved children, Shannon Bullock (Seth), Michael Henley (Ashley Baldwin), Lacie Henley (Jeffery Piel), Jesse Pickrell (Mysty), Kristine Henley, Jeni Henley (Shay McGarvey), and Jonathan Henley (Jessica); 17 adored grandchildren, Kailee, Kennon, Julia, Easton, Chase, Kylah, Bryson, Landon, Cameron, Sophie, Adalynn, Amanda, Audrianna, Lillian, Alaina, Elliette, and Raelynn; sisters, Tammy McDowell and Alice McDowell; her father, Jerry McDowell; and a list of extended family members and friends.
Jenina was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy McDowell.
