Jerome H. "Jerry" Diederich, age 79, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at St. John Medical Center in Westlake.
He was born in Elyria and had been a resident of Carlisle Twp. since 2007-2023 when he moved back to North Ridgeville where he spent most of his life.
He served in the US Navy during Vietnam as a jet mechanic on aircraft carriers and a crew member on a helicopter antisubmarine squadron.
Jerry owned an operated Red's Garage from 1976-1986 when he had to close due to illness. He then went on to work part time for NAPA Auto Parts from 1990 until retiring in 2012.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in North Ridgeville where his was active with the Knights of Columbus 7970 Fr. Vincent Capodanno Assembly 3019 and was a 4th Degree Knight.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Jacqueline "Jackie", sons, David (Sheela) Diederich of Sagamore Hills, Jeff (Heather) Diederich of Twinsburg, daughter, Jennifer Smirz of Austintown, grandchildren, Ethan, Emma, Owen, Aidan, Sullivan, Declan, Daniel, Charlie and Anna, sister Jeannie Hamker of Grafton, brother, Jim (Sandra) Diederich of Easley, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mary (nee Barth) Diederich, sister, Judith Miller, brothers-in-law Ken Miller, Paul Hamker and son-in-law, Frank Smirz.
Friends may call Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 5-8PM at the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville where there will be a prayer service on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 9:30AM followed by a 10AM Mass at St. Peter Church, 35777 Center Ridge Rd. Rev. Bob Franco, Pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Save a Warrior at www.saveawarrior.org.
