The memorial Mass for Jerome "Jerry" Kneisl of Staples will be celebrated at 11:00:00a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 5:00 until 7:00p.m. at the Domian-Anderson Chapel in Bertha, with Prayers at 6:30p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Wednesday from 9:30a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will be at 3:00p.m. in the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls, MN.
With family at his side, Jerome passed away at the age of 83, on February 5, 2025, at his home in Staples, MN, with tender care provided by Lakewood Hospice.
Jerome "Jerry" was born to August and Gertrude (Schlegel) Kneisl on October 22, 1941, at Wesley Hospital in Wadena, MN. He grew up in nearby Verndale and graduated from Verndale High School. In October 1958, Jerry became a US Marine and served until his honorable discharge in November 1962. While in the service, Jerry married Lois Mae Tabery on July 30, 1961, at Winterhaven, CA.
Jerry and Lois farmed in Eagle Bend for over 50 years before retiring to Staples, MN. He was a talented woodworker and avid outdoorsman enjoying both fishing and hunting. He was a true steward of the land planting thousands of trees for future generations to enjoy.
Preceding Jerry in death were his parents, August and Gertrude; brothers, Duane and Arnold Kneisl; and half-brother Donald Bush.
Forever loved, Jerry will be missed by his wife, Lois; children: Luke (Stacey) Kneisl of Bertha, Julie (Brad) Tersteeg of South Range, WI, Jill Kneisl of Motley and John Kneisl of Gaylord; seven grandchildren; along with extended family and friends.
Honorary urn bearers will be Gunther Tersteeg, Stone Kneisl, Lilian Schneider, Riley Kneisl Ava Schneider, Greta Kneisl and AJ Kneisl.
Military honors will be provided by Marine Corp Detachment #273 Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jerry's name may be directed to Staples All Veterans and Community Park. (http://staplesmnveteranspark.org)
