Boyd- Jerrol Ray "Jerry" Lamance, 80, went to be with our Lord Sunday, July 9, 2023 in Denton, Texas.
Funeral Service is 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 13, 2023 at New Hope Baptist Church in Boyd with burial in Garvin Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd.
Pallbearers include Chance Vanderslice, Johnny Lamance, Dusty Lamance, Jamie Lamance, Kenny Whatley and Rendyn Lamance. Honorary pallbearers are Buck Lamance, Jett Lomance and Harry Lamance and his children.
Jerry was born on June 26, 1943 to Johnnie William and Annie Laurie (Gipple) Lamance in Boyd. He was a lifelong resident of Boyd and the community he loved, graduating from Boyd High School and a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church. Jerry worked for Lockheed Martin as a machinist and also worked as a bricklayer. He was united in marriage to Barbara Graham on July 3, 1991 in Boyd. Jerry enjoyed in his spare time woodworking, and metal crafts that include making things with horseshoes and gardening. He spent his last years doing puzzles. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Annie Lamance; daughter Tammy Vanderslice; brothers, John Henry Lamance, and Bill Lamance; a grandson, D.J. Lamance.
Those left to cherish is memory are his wife, Barbara Lamance; his sons, Johnny Floyd Lamance Sr. of Boyd, Darrell Ray Lamance of Boyd, Rodney Vanderslice of Boyd and Terrell Thompson of California; his brothers, Buck Lamance and wife Mary Lou and Harry Lamance and wife Cindy, all of Boyd; his sisters, Dona Whitsett of Fort Worth, Linda Spry and husband Tookie of Azle, and Susie Cordell and husband Lynn of Boyd; his sister-in- law, Paula Lamance of Arkansas; 8 grandchildren;19 great-grandchildren, numerous extended family members, nieces, nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.
