Jeremy John (Jerry) DeForge, age 53, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024 at UP Health Systems-Marquette. He was born July 16, 1971, in Hancock MI to John (Nonnie) DeForge Jr and Lynn DeForge Baldwin. Jerry was raised in Trimountain, MI, and graduated from Jeffers High School Class of 1989. He went on to graduate from Northern Michigan University with a Bachelors Degree in business.
Jerry possessed a very strong work ethic which he passed on to his son Zeeke. He worked with Bill Rolof at Rolof Appraisal Service in L'Anse. He trained with Bill and held him in high esteem. Jerry then built DeForge Appraisal Service in Negaunee from the ground up. He was known for his short turn around times and was proud that he never needed to advertise, but relied solely on word of mouth.
He enjoyed fishing, barbecuing, following football (Packers), live music concerts, and heading down to the Negaunee Eagles Club.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father (John DeForge Jr age 69), his infant sister (Kristi age 2 weeks), and nephew (Dylan age 2).
He is survived by his mother Lynn Baldwin & Stepmother Claire Ernest, brother Keith DeForge (wife Nancy), sister Jennifer DeForge (husband Brian Black), nieces Emilee DeForge, Tori DeForge, and Jacquie DeForge as well as his son Zeeke DeForge who was the focus of his life. His little dog Jasper will miss him terribly.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Jerry will be held Saturday, August 17 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 107 Atlantic Ave, South Range MI 49963.
