Jerry Dale Ervie was called Home with his family by his side on May 5th, 2023 at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Jerry was born in Lingo, Missouri to Wanda and Damon Ervie on October 29th, 1943. He was the second of four children. The family moved to a farm outside of Marceline where Jerry worked along-side his family tending to the crops and livestock. This is where his passion for farming and John Deere tractors began.
When he wasn't running the hills of Linn County, Jerry attended Hardin and Park Elementary Schools and later Marceline High School where he first met the love of his life, Vicky Lyn Crippin. Jerry and Vicky were married in Miami, Oklahoma on October 29th, 1965. The couple lived in Kansas City for a short time, where Jerry worked for Westfall Trucking, but quickly realized home was Marceline and the farm. They settled back on the family farm that Jerry grew up on and Jerry started his career in the farm implement business, first selling Case tractors, then Allis Chalmers. In 1991 Jerry realized a life-long dream, opening Macon County Equipment to sell John Deere tractors. He finished his career with Sydenstricker Equipment, retiring in 2019 after over 45 years in the farm implement business. Jerry was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church and served on the Public Water Supply District Board, Township Board, and Farmers Mutual Insurance Board.
Jerry is survived by his son Damon Ervie and wife Kathy of Lake Nehai, Missouri, daughter Darci Meese and husband Johnny of Parkville, Missouri, five grandchildren, Zach and Ben Ervie and Kayte, Brooklyn, and Morgan Meese, sister Carolyn Hawkins and brother in-law Mick Hawkins, sister-in-law Sharon Ervie, and sister-in-law Cena Rich and Greg, and many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and Larry Ervie, his beloved wife Vicky, and brother-in-law Jamie Crippin and Carol.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Friday, May 12, 2023 at Delaney Funeral Home in Marceline. Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the funeral home with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Marceline. Memorials may be made to Public Water Supply District #3 or Bethany Baptist Church and mailed to Delaney Funeral Home 1720 N. Missouri Ave., Marceline, MO 64658.
